Championship Schooling Show

Qualifying for Championship Show

Scores must be earned at a VADA/Nova Schooling show or Partner Show.


Scores must be earned between December 1st 2024 and October 25th 2025 to qualify for the 2025 Championship Show.


The rider must be a member of VADA/Nova at the time the qualifying score is earned.

Qualifying Scores for Championship Show

For Introductory Level Championship, there will be two sections

  • Intro Section 1- For riders who have not competed above Second Level.
  • Intro Section 2- For riders who have competed at Second Level or above at any recognized, licensed, or schooling show on any horse.


For Training Level Championship, there will be two sections

  • Section 1- For riders who have not competed above Fourth Level.
  • Section 2- For riders who have competed at Fourth Level or above at any recognized, licensed, or schooling show on any horse.

Competing at the Championship Show

Entries will be processed the same way and follow all the same rules as our Schooling Shows with the following exceptions.

  • Entries:
  • Priority Entry will go to Championship riders and warm-up classes that have complete entries by the close date.
  • Member Entries will fill after Priority Entries.
  • Non-Member Entries will fill after Members.
  • This is a one ring show, in the indoor arena, and may be limited to due time.


For Championship Classes only

  • Turn-Out Proper turn-out is expected, including coats for riders. Braiding is optional, but encouraged
  • Readers No readers are allowed in Championship Classes, all tests must be ridden from memory.
  • Whips Whips may not be carried in Championship Classes
  • Warm-Up Tests Rider may select any test as their warm-up, including the test they will ride in the Championship class, or a test above or below that level.
  • Placings Championship Classes will be pinned to 8th place.
  • One Horse/Two Riders If two different riders have qualified on the same horse, only one rider may ride the horse in the show.
  • Riding Two Consecutive Levels in Championship Classes Riders may qualify for the show and ride in Championship Classes at two consecutive levels on the same horse, however riding two non-consecutive levels on the same horse is not permitted.
  • RE-Riding a Level from the Previous Year A rider may not re-ride a level in a Championship Class if they have won that level on the same horse in a Championship Class the previous year.
  • Riders Horses competing in Championship classes may not be ridden on the show grounds by anyone other than the Championship rider at any time during the show. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification from the Championship Schooling Show.
  • Scores Riders must receive a score of 55% or higher in order to receive a Champion or Reserve Champion Ribbon or prize. Otherwise, a regular ribbon will be awarded.
  • Split or Combined Classes Depending on the number of entries, Championship classes may be split or combined.
  • Special Awards
  • High Score VADA/Nova Junior/Young Rider (excludes Intro, Eventing, and Musical Freestyle Scores)
  • High Score VADA/Nova Adult Amateur (excludes Intro, Eventing, and Musical Freestyle Scores)
  • High Score VADA/Nova Open (excludes Intro, Eventing, and Musical Freestyle Scores)
  • Horses should be braided and coats are encouraged. Open classes are standard schooling show attire.
  • We will do our best to have Award Ceremonies and a photography opportunity.
